Ghandruk Village
Ghandruk Village

Ghandruk, a well-known Gurung village situated at more than 2000m, has been ranked as the 13th most picturesque town by CNN. The trail to the village is one of the most popular short treks in the Annapurna circuit. As Visit Nepal 2020 approaches, visitors can opt for the Ghandruk hike, which starts from Nayapul, about 45 minutes away from Pokhara. The trek offers a quick glimpse of how the topography changes from green hilly terrains to rugged mountains within a few hours of walking. The hike begins with green fields and the landscape of a river, and takes trekkers through pine forests filled with the sounds of birds and crickets, a refreshing change from the noise of the city. Upon reaching the village, visitors are welcomed by the warm hospitality of the people and the stone-tiled houses and pavements make them feel as if they have stepped into an ancient city.
Mount Annapurna stands gloriously in front of the village, seeming to witness everything the visitors experience on the trail - the pain and the exhilaration. The village also boasts an old museum that preserves old Gurung culture, where people flock to don traditional attire and take photographs. If you are seeking a hike in the Annapurna Conservation Area, Ghandruk will surely satisfy your desire for nature and culture.
